Funny how most Nigerian students still think the UTME exam organized by JAMB is the only means to secure university admission. As such, JAMB has frustrated many University aspirants.

You’d be surprised what student face in their bid to gain admission: Some have written JAMB as much as 5 times, maybe more for others. Some give up on education; some even commit suicide. This is simply because they think JAMB is the ONLY way.

Well, IJMB is an acronym for Interim Joint Matriculation Board. It a programme supervised by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. It was designed to give students who are unable to secure admission through JAMB an alternative to secure admission.

The programme is not a new programme, it has been in existence since the 1970s. It is accepted by nearly 90% of all Universities in Nigeria. You may want to see the List of Universities That Accept IJMB.

IJMB is just like 100Level. It runs for a duration of 6 – 9 months. During this period, you will be taken through the basic 100Level curriculum (and a part of 200Level) as designed in the IJMB syllabus. Thereafter, you will sit for the IJMB examination.

You can use your IJMB result to apply to any University in Nigeria through Direct Entry (DE) and you’d be offered admission to 200Level. The good thing is, Direct Entry admission through IJMB is easier because it is less competitive.

If you want to read more about the programme, visit ijmbenigeria.com. The application form is currently on sales and closing soon. You can apply here before it closes.

#2. JUPEB

JUPEB, an acronym for Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board, is a similar programme as IJMB. It is just like 100Level. It runs for a duration of 6 – 9 months during which you will be taken through the basic 100Level curriculum (and a part of 200Level) as designed in the JUPEB syllabus. Thereafter, you will sit for the JUPEB examination.

You can use your JUPEB result to apply for 200Level admission to any University in Nigeria through Direct Entry (DE). The good thing is, Direct Entry admission through JUPEB is easier because it is less competitive.

The difference between IJMB and JUPEB is that JUPEB is more expensive and moderated by the University of Lagos. However, they are both A’level programmes that let you secure admission to 200level in any Nigerian university.

Want to know more about JUPEB? Visit ijmbenigeria.com/jupeb. JUPEB form is currently on. you can apply here if you are interested before it closes.

#3. RNN

Diploma is another way you can secure admission without JAMB. The Diploma programme runs for a duration of one year. After the program, you will secure admission into 200level via Direct Entry into the same university.

This is different from IJMB or JUPEB because you can only use your Diploma certificate to apply to the University where you did the programme. Unlike IJMB or JUPEB where you can do your programme in Ilorin and secure admission to Abuja.

#4. NOUN

Since its inception in 2002, National Open University (NOUN) has been admitting applicants easily without JAMB. The university has been admitting students who may be engaged in activities or students of age. Most especially students who are tired of writing JAMB repeatedly.

Admission into NOUN does not require you to go through the stress of preparing for JAMB and passing with excellent scores in all your subjects. No! NOUN will never ask you for your JAMB result or JAMB certificate. You only require a minimum of five (5) O’Level credits in not more than two (2) sittings.

However, if you want to go for NYSC, you’ll be required to enrol for JAMB regularization.

To apply or learn more about NOUN, visit nou.edu.ng.

#5. Private Universities

Yes! There are some private universities that can offer you admission with or without JAMB. Babcock University, Madonna University, Crawford University, Bingham University, Caritas University, and Bowen University to mention a few.

Furthermore, most private universities offer admission to students who score between 120 – 180. The only reason why this option is not popular among students is because of the fees that private universities charge.

As a way of conclusion, you might want to see the List of Nigerian Universities That Accept 120 – 180 JAMB Cut Off Mark.
